Some designers have the ability to create an aesthetic that is not only timeless but also evokes a sense of peace and balance. Vincent Van Duysen is a master of this. His designs are subtle yet profoundly impactful. From his architectural projects to his furniture and collaborations with brands like Zara Home, everything exudes a refined, understated luxury that continues to inspire me.

Minimalism with Soul

Van Duysen has proven himself over the years as one of the most influential designers of our time. His style? Minimalism, but with soul. No cold, sterile spaces, but interiors and objects that are warm, tactile, and deeply functional. His work feels like a deep breath—everything is in harmony, with careful attention to light, textures, and proportions.

A Visit to Hotel August

Recently, I was in Antwerp and had the pleasure of having lunch at Hotel August, a stunning boutique hotel housed in a former convent, designed by Van Duysen. The serene atmosphere he has created there is truly unique. Original details have been preserved while being enhanced with modern elegance. The muted color palette, subtle lines, and perfect balance between old and new make it a place where you want to linger. If you ever find yourself in Antwerp, I highly recommend visiting August. Next to the hotel, you’ll also find a beautifully curated shop featuring a selection of Van Duysen’s designs, allowing visitors to take a piece of his signature aesthetic home with them.

From Zara Home to High-End Interiors

What I also love about Van Duysen is how he makes his aesthetic accessible to a broad audience. His Zara Home collection is a perfect example. The furniture and accessories he designed for the brand reflect his signature style: pure lines, natural materials, and a muted color palette. Whether you live in a city loft or a countryside home, this collection seamlessly fits into various interiors and proves that great design doesn’t always have to be out of reach.

The Magic of Van Duysen

What makes Vincent Van Duysen so special? For me, it’s his ability to elevate simplicity into an art form. He doesn’t seek attention with flashy designs or excessive details. Instead, he works with subtlety, with almost a sense of silence. His designs don’t feel like fleeting trends but like spaces and objects you want to surround yourself with for years.

From a grand villa to a compact piece of furniture, Van Duysen continuously proves that timeless design never loses its charm. His work inspires me to bring more peace and balance into my own interior—and I know I’m not the only one.
